The two Danish partners, Bladt Industries and Semco Maritime, have been market leaders in their field for more than 15 years, primarily within Northern Europe. But now the time is right and the Taiwanese market is ready for the duo to develop opportunities for continued growth. Bladt Industries and Semco Maritime have therefore entered into a partnership with the local shipyard CSBC, jointly creating a significant supplier to cover the Taiwanese market for offshore substations.
The Taiwanese government has proposed very ambitious targets for the completion of large offshore projects. The original target has been set at 5.5 GW by 2025 – and with the potential for more – so Bladt Industries and Semco Maritime have joined forces with the local shipyard CSBC to ensure continued momentum and development within one of their largest areas of expertise.
The large Taiwanese shipyard CSBC Corporation has ambitions of participating in the local offshore wind market. Close collaboration between the three partners has therefore been established with the conclusion of a partnership agreement which was reached last week.
“We also want to be an important player in the Taiwanese offshore wind market, and we know that with a strong and reliable partner in Taiwan that has great experience in the fabrication of complex steel structures, our trio will be able to reach new heights in the offshore wind sector”, says Lars Kristensen, Senior Vice President, Bladt Industries.
Vice President of Semco Maritime, Carsten Nielsen, says: “This partnership provides a very strong constellation of professional and market leading companies within the industry. Semco Maritime and Bladt Industries have developed a leading position over the last 15 years in the market for offshore transformer stations in Europe, which in partnership with the market leading shipyard in Taiwan forms a very strong constellation without equal. I am certain that CSBC Corporation has exactly the qualities we are looking for”.
Executive Vice President of CSBC, Foung-Tang Lin, says: “We see it as a major strength that, together with the two leading suppliers from the European market, we are now establishing ourselves in the rapidly growing Taiwanese offshore market. This partnership will give us a unique, unequalled position in the Taiwanese market”.
The three partners are delighted to create local jobs in Taiwan as a consequence of this new partnership.
